Lips to love

Please, oh please, stop with the matte lipsticks! Are these really flattering for anyone? They make my lips look like dried, shriveled prunes left out in the sun and feel like my son's school glue. I am all about smooth, hydrating products and generally opt for neutrals. But I do love a pop of color to brighten a look, and these picks are among my favs and stand the test of time.

Fall!

Labor day has come and gone, which means its time for sweaters, hot drinks, jeans and scarves. I like to add something like a bright lip or fun purse to update an otherwise casual weekend look come fall. Am I too old for ripped denim? I certainly hope not because It's my favorite thing. Can anyone else smell the pumpkin lattes? 

Fall Wishlist

This season my Fall wishlist is full of items that make me feel cozy and happy in my house. My little one loves his ice cream, and I can't pass up anything from Kate Spade's home collection so this bowl + scoop set is too cute to miss. Tea and coffee are just more delicious in a decorative dainty cup. And what kitchen table isn't better with a set of fun plates? Booties for me are a highlight of the summer to fall transition, I seem to buy a pair each year. Plum nails are as much a fall staple as the pumpkin spice latte (anyone know the release date this year? Starbucks throws us a bone and usually comes out with it in August!)

Beauty 101

Even before I had a baby, when I was a busy law school student, I've always been into my morning routine. I can't really have a good day if I don't step out of the house in a coordinating outfit, and at least some basic makeup. My daily essential are simple but also transforming (ie a night of no sleep, too much wine, or not enough coffee can be camouflaged).

Eyes: Chanel's quad is amazing. I also love the Naked original palette. For concealer nothing beats the tarte color corrector (I wear light/medium).

Brows: I never even thought about my eyebrows until I turned 30. Now I feel like I cant leave the house without at least some pencil. Most days I use the Anastasia double ended brush and their new pomade called Dipbrow to lightly fill and hold my brows in place. This stuff is better than any tinted gel I have ever used.

Skin: tarte's BB is my daily go to, I use Lancome's Teint Idole when I'm going out. For cheeks I love the Naked palette in Flushed, and tarte's cheek tint in blissful. I also like the Nars' The Multiple in Orgasm and Maui. Sometimes I sweep a little Clinique loose powder on top, but in the winter I usually avoid powder.

Lips: Where to begin. My current favorites are either Chanel's all day liquid in Light Rose, or Nars' Audacious formula in Raquel or Anita. On top I will add a coat of Nars' gloss in turkish delight or orgasm. I also like MAC from time to time, but less so since I've discovered the Chanel and Nars Audacious formulas.

Scent: I used to have 8-10 different perfumes on hand at all times. I have pared this down to 3 great options- Ralph Lauren for year round, J.Crew Arquiste No. 31 for fall/winter, and Chanel Mademoiselle for special events (or a day I need a little extra help).

I am perpetually searching for the perfect beauty products. Girl Meets Glam turned me on to Chanel's Rouge Double Intensite liquid lipstick, and I have since bought 5 shades. My perfect evening color is Deep Rose, while my office look is Light Rose. When I say I put it on at 7am, and only reapply the top gloss 3-4 times throughout the day, I am not kidding. I still need remover to take it off at 8pm. And it doesn't transfer, doesn't get on teeth, and doesn't budge when smooching my toddler. The all around perfect product! at $35, its really more than worth the price tag.
