In My Bag

I've parred down what I tote around on the daily, since I'm also carrying multiple snacks, hot wheels, and at least 1 box of crayons at all times (the joy of having a 5 year old!). My essentials include my Louis Vuitton wallet, Marc Jacobs sunnies, Tory Burch mirror and business card holder (gifts from my hubby), and a few beauty items which I rotate periodically. Currently, I'm loving:

YSL Oil In Stick in No. 47 'Beige Blouse'
Mac satin finish in 'Faux'
Clinique Chubby Stick in Roly Poly Rosy
Clinique intense lipliner in Sassafras
Tory Burch's roller-ball perfume
Nars gloss in Dolce Vita
Nivea balm for all day hydration underneath any lipstick

Whats inside your bag right now?

Spring in the Office

There's nothing better than reaching for a floral dress and a light blazer when the first warm days of early spring roll around. Whether I'm office bound or headed to a client meeting, this look never lets me down.

Client Meeting: March Edition

Client Meeting: March Edition

A client meeting in NYC is always a good excuse for my favorite work tote, but it can be tricky when it comes to shoes and outerwear. This particular Wednesday, its about 50 in NYC which means I'd sweat in anything heavier than the J.Crew Regent blazer (Im a sweater, and I walk insanely fast). My trusty umbrella is tucked inside my bag, as are a pair of flats just in case.

Statement Piece: Red Coat

This is not a new coat, nor is it something radical. But I really, really love it. I've had it since probably 2010 so its older than my son, and an annual trip to the cleaners has kept it in near perfect condition. J.Crew makes the most amazing coats, and this is no exception.

Classics

When it comes to bags, I've always been into high quality, classic choices. Since the days of shopping the Americana with my dad after a good report card, to my first pay check after college, I've been an investment bag shopper versus a lower cost, high quantity type of girl. And in my post-law school, post-baby, post-home purchase life, its not so different (although there are great, vast stretches of time in between such purchases). When good news came to me at work on the very anniversary of my dad passing, I knew it I had to stick to old traditions and make a purchase my dad would have told me to. (I also find it to be no coincidence at all that this news came on this day, as it was certainly my dad's hand at work to make it a date that something good happened). So after much deliberation and emails exchanged with Rebecca, I landed on my original choice from long ago before I was actually in the market to make a purchase.

This bag makes me feel like the uber-professional woman with its sleek design and classic lines. I will enjoy it for years to come.

Work Wear

Pencil Skirt: J.Crew, Blouse: Ann Taylor; Shoes: Sole Society; Clutch: Louis Vuitton

Come August, I am sick to death of summer clothes. I long for tweed, wool, and tights. Today, I am participating in a round-table at Proskauer's NYC office, where I will be the least seasoned attorney in attendance so a good outfit is of course a must. My trusty pencil skirts are about the only thing I can still get excited for as I wait anxiously for September to roll around.

Work It: Bags

Its been 10 years since I graduated from college and joined the workforce, and in that time, I have amassed quite a collection of bags. Some have been fleeting affairs not worth the high price tag, others are like true love, weathering the years and riding the tides of trend coming out alive. To be a working mother who loves style is to be on a constant quest for the perfect work tote, one that combines function, fit, and fashion seamlessly (and still gets you excited in the morning when its time to head out the door).

Some of my pics that meet the mark:

$ This bag from Ann Taylor is a great everyday bag, sturdy, polished, and just around $100. I have this is navy and have used it countless times this summer.

$-$$ The newly released York Tote from Tory Burch is a great option at a very reasonable price point, in a variety of colors for fall. I purchased mine this summer and am anxiously waiting for September to roll around to use it. It fits a legal brief, gym shoes, and a stack of diapers :)

$$ The Robinson Tote from Tory Burch. Super chic, with a nod to the masculine edge that makes women envy the classic men's briefcase. This also holds its shape when placed on the ground during a meeting, which helps avoid embarrassment while rifling through to find relevant papers as a CFO stares at you.

$$$ The Louis Vuitton Never-full. Still one of my favorites even though more trendy styles have come and gone over the years (and thanks to Bag Borrow or Steal, I have been able to trade some of my less popular styles in for cash!)

$$$$+ Because its always good to have a wishlist, there is this stunner that I will probably never own, but will always love to dream about owning one day.
